The life of a freelance artist comes with no guarantees , the end of a project does not mean you have another waiting in the wings ; so you are always in " back up " mode . It's important to schedule time to work on " real " projects accordingly , but you also have to schedule time to work on purely speculative work because its a fact that you are going to encounter a dry spot . Bills never sleep and thus rarely does a freelancer . That's an over-simplification of course , but the fact is without a stable " 9 to 5 " a freelance artist has to put in a lot more hours in a work day than other folks .

Time does NOT equal Money |
These speculative projects serve a variety of purposes and goals and so their value tends to surpass a simple means to an end . It's not dissimilar to cleaning your gun or sharpening your knife - the artist has to keep growing their skills and that is not always possible on paying gigs that often require you to cut corners and make compromises .

The life of a sketch is a tenuous existence |
Working on projects unconstrained by conventional thinking enables the artist to push the envelope in directions that " mainstream " thinking tends to ignore , allows one to escape the bonds of pigeon-holing ; " Oh, this person - he/she can ONLY do this sort of work " . Please pay no heed to the fact that ALL I ever seem to do are GIRLS ! heh heh .
While the majority of projects I will share here are personal projects , I would imagine that the occasional private commission will show up as is allowed according to the contractual arrangements . The purpose of this particular page will be to showcase works in progress and provide some insight into the whole creative process .
